superior Mexican forces in the late afternoon on April 21, 1836. The
memory of their fallen comrades at the Alamo 6 weeks earlier was on their minds as they
charged. General Houston was leading the charge and was leading
the Battle Cry......"Remember The Alamo......Remember Goliad"
Item has a rare First Day Cover of the Tom Lea stamp of General
Houston issued Jan 10, 1964.

The quote on the grave marker is from Sam Houston's friend and
mentor, Andrew Jackson. From the battle at Horseshoe Bend where
the young Lieutenant Houston distinguished himself in front of General
Jackson, they were life long friends. Jackson knew
of what young Houston was made of.....and he was right.
This beautiful piece has a picture of the grave maker at General
Houston's grave in Huntsville, Texas. General
Houston is atop his war horse, Saracen.
